Versatility

With stiff competition from local shelter cats and cute kittens, it's all about versatility in the adoption game. So far, I have proven myself a diplomat with the canine set, a grade A cuddle bug, and an independent sun beam lover and toy player when the mood hits me. Also included in my resume:

  • Pinata impersonator. Enough said. I'd like to see you try it.
  • Water Conservationist. I stalk the bather from between the shower curtains to wait for the appropriate time to rescue the last few drips from waste. It doesn't bother me at all to sit in the residual shower water while drinking straight from the tap. Despite the pretty coat, I'm not prissy.
  • Money conscious. In tough economic times, nobody wants a toy snob. My favorite toys so far are mom's ponytail elastics. They come in packs of 20 for under 5 dollars from Target.

Canine Acclimation, Part 2

Can't we all just get along? We sure can...especially when sunbeams are involved. Being alpha dog is awfully tiring and sometimes when mom is too cheap to turn the heat up, you just need to declare a group nap in the sun. I love my foster mom and am a giant cuddle bug but when the afternoon sun beats through the window her lap is no match. I believe this earns me the label of "cuddly and loveable but not too needy."

Canine Acclimation, Part 1:

My foster siblings, Molly and Roxy are two 9-ish year old mutts. For the first week in my foster home, I preferred to stay in my room and investigate the mutts from afar. On only day 5, my foster mom was kind enough to tire the dogs out, allowing me to venture downstairs, undetected, and check them out to my heart's content while they slept soundly. After only a week, I ventured into their space without worry and now I stand my ground and make them sweat when I so choose. My favorite game is to sniff the food in their food bowls and to plant myself in the middle of the staircase to cut off their upstairs/downstairs access. They respect my authority unconditionally now.
